Abstract wall art of Berlin's streets caught in motion
I took this in Charlottenburg, hardly the busiest neighborhood in Berlin. Still, the streets fill with people and sound and constant movement. I was thinking about overwhelm, about how much filtering I have to do just to walk through a crowded place. The photograph came out abstract, painterly. The colors stayed minimal: whites, greys, soft beiges. Everything blurs and flows upward, like the world is dissolving at the edges.
For me, this is what it feels like to be overstimulated in the city. You stop looking around and just keep moving forward, letting everything else fall away. It's a reduced image, but I keep returning to it. Sometimes I see calm in it. Sometimes I see the act of letting go. The piece holds something I didn't fully understand when I made it: that sometimes the quietest response to a busy place means narrowing your focus to just the path ahead.
