This image was made approaching Manhattan by ferry, when the sun is setting and the buildings start to glow. I wanted to capture not just what I saw, but what it feels like to be pulled toward this city, even when you know it might overwhelm you. So I layered multiple exposures, letting the skyline blur and merge until it became something more emotional than architectural. The orange warmth of sunlight on glass mingles with the darkening blue of water and sky. Nothing holds still. The buildings seem to breathe and shift, reflecting in the harbor, doubling themselves. It's how memory works, really, or anticipation: that sense of a place being more than itself, full of promise and also slightly out of reach. I keep returning to this image because it holds that tension. The city I'm drawn to, the one that exhausts me, caught in a single frame where it's both solid and dissolving.
